September 2023 Newsletter

And just like that, August slipped away into a moment of time.

Now, if you have not been living under a rock for the past few months, we can all agree that one of the biggest lessons of 2023 is that Taylor Swift is on a f*** ing roll. Now, I was always a fan, but I was also someone who said, ‘I didn’t like her music because it was cool not to.’ But, oh man, was I missing out. The way she uses words to paint a picture is one of the most extraordinary things to witness—a true inspiration in many ways.

But that made me think about what talent we may have that makes us unique. Now, it might not be on the scale as Ms. Swift herself, but does inspiration only count if it hits millions of people? To be inspired in the first place is not that easy. We have to feel and be open to the feeling. And when we are so used to keeping everything and everyone at an arm’s distance, sometimes inspiration is the only way to connect.

But inspiration doesn’t stop there. It’s the action that comes from that inspiration that makes life itself inspiring. It’s a little repetitive, I know. But think about it. When we are genuinely inspired, when we truly feel the melody, the movie dialogue, the brush strokes on a painting or just a leaf blowing in the wind, it’s what we do with that emotion and accompanied thought that makes the prior event inspiring. “I did this because I was inspired by that.” And then it becomes a muse.

All language – inspiration, action, muse – to describe a life we want to live. A life we dream of. A life where we become the version of ourselves we like.

So, as August slips away and the last few months of the year come to life, ask yourself, what is inspiring you right now? Then act on it.
