After receiving my Master’s (M.A.) in Counselling Psychology at Yorkville University, I set on to develop my own practice in hopes of creating a space where we do not place judgment on our worst mistakes. Instead, we focus on healing and celebrating the strengths that come with the process. My love for psychology began early in high school. Like many of us, I was unaware of what “psychology” truly meant and how I could make a difference. However, with years of learning, practice, and continued trust in the process, I wake up every day grateful for my journey. Working with children and adults across many mediums of what life offers, despite both the hardships and joyous moments, it is the genuine connection between ourselves and others that genuinely cement our psyche. Regardless of our backgrounds and where we come from, one thing I have observed throughout my years in mental health work is the power of conversation.

I have worked within local community mental health agencies for the better part of the past decade. As a Psychotherapist, I believe our quality of life is directly related to the quality of our relationships and the ability to maintain relationships. Through my work across fields in addiction, autism, grief, ABA therapy services, community mental health initiatives, non-profit, and other modalities, I have learned to cherish each genuine connection with a whole heart. In my everyday work, I balance my day between providing counselling to my clients experiencing struggles by understanding their emotions, managing everyday stress, and establishing healthy relationships. For the other half, I work in the non-profit disability sector educating and providing federal entities tools to become more Disability Confident.

And that is why my philosophy will always be centred around my clients – to help overcome and appreciate the different nuances of life and measure genuinely what makes us happy.

Registered Psychotherapist (Qualifying)

Hello, my name is Joty, and I am a Registered Psychotherapist (Qualifying) at Measuring What Matters. I understand that starting the process of counselling and finding the right counsellor can be intimidating. My passion and goal is to provide a safe, supportive, and a non-judgemental space for my clients to share their stories and feel heard, seen, and understood. I help my clients, who include children, adults, couples and families, to strengthen their relationships and have healthy perceptions of themselves so they can know themselves as complete, peaceful, present and safe.

With the social stigma around mental health, it can be scary being vulnerable and expressing your true emotions. My approach is built on a foundation of establishing rapport and connecting through honest dialogue. My purpose in life is to provide selfless service, where my clients feel comfortable and trust me as their confidant, because I genuinely believe that the power of conversation leads to the journey of healing and growth.

I know that no single approach is the right one for every individual, and so my priority is to understand your unique therapeutic needs for healing. I have been trained in a range of modalities; however, my philosophy will always be centered around my clients and their healing journey. Together we will focus on what matters and eliminate the rest.

Services are available in English and Punjabi.

Nikita Ariganello
Registered Psychotherapist (Qualifying)

Hi there! My name is Nikita and I am a Registered Psychotherapist (Qualifying) at Measuring What Matters. I want to acknowledge the brave and courageous steps you’ve taken to arrive here. I am a firm believer that anyone can benefit from therapy, whether working through complicated life issues, managing mental health, stress, to fostering growth and reflection in your life. I work with clients, from youth to adults, in creating a brave space where you can bring your vulnerable and authentic self without judgement or biases. In my practice, I believe it’s important to integrate all parts of the self, from the mind, body and soul. I have a background in psychospiritual therapy, in which I believe it’s important to explore deeper what gives one meaning or what is sacred in one’s life and how this can be used as a tool.

Growing up in a large, diverse family with mental health, I understand there are many moving parts to life, and it can be complicated; I want to honour your story. I provide a safe space and inclusivity to all, from those of different cultural backgrounds, 2SLGBTQ+ communities, and faith backgrounds, from adolescence to adults, working through a variety of concerns or issues, such as grief, trauma, depression, anxiety, loneliness, low-self-esteem, relationships (family, work, friends), to learning to regulate emotions, understand one’s self and support in daily life. While I integrate a variety of modalities, I work one-on-one with clients to create goals and see what works best for the individual. With a trauma-informed approach, I believe person-centred therapy is important, as you’re the expert to your own story.

It is a privilege to be a part of your journey and to be someone who can advocate, support and celebrate your parts along the way.
